OLAP (Online Analytical Processing) which stands for On-Line Analytical Processing. It is a computational method that users can easily and optionally extract data and analyze it from various perspectives. This helps in trend analysis, financial reporting, sales forecasting and other planning purposes. This system organizes and presents special database information in specific formats and tries to meet the diverse needs of different users.Types of OLAP

Data warehouse systems serve users or employees to analyze data and make decisions. Such systems can organize and present information in specific formats; to meet the diverse needs of different users and enable end customers to perform case-by-case analysis of records in multiple dimensions and provide insight and understanding needed for better decision-making. These systems are called Online Analytical Processing (OLAP) systems. In this article, we introduce OLAP and its types; So stay with us.
Who uses OLAP?
Different people use OLAP in different fields; For example, the following can be mentioned:
Economics and accounting, which are used in the following sub-branches.
Budgeting
Financial performance analysis
and financial modeling
Sales and marketing
Sales analysis and forecasting
Market research analysis
Advertising analysis
Customer analysis
Market and customer segmentation
and…
Objectives of OLAP
OLAP cubes have two main purposes:
providing a data model to business users; which is more intuitive for them than a tabular model; This model is called the next model.
Enable quick response and search; which is usually difficult to achieve using tabular models.
OLAP features
In this section, we will introduce some general rules and main features in OLAP:
Multidimensional conceptual view is the main feature of an OLAP system.
Having transparency with users in various cases such as underlying information, computational operations and the different nature of source data, which leads to improvements in efficiency and improves user productivity.
Provides access to the data needed for analysis
In order to ensure that things such as increasing the number of dimensions or the size of the database do not have an adverse effect on the performance of users, constant reporting should be done.
It has a multi-user support capability that can provide data integrity and security by simultaneously accessing data.
With the help of unbounded interaction operations, it allows to identify dimensional order and provides aggregation methods in one dimension or across dimensions.
Intuitive manipulation of data is the basis for integration.
This allows customers to organize things like columns, rows, and cells, making it easy to analyze and combine data easily.
Among other rules in OLAP, there are unlimited dimensions in it; In addition, each of these dimensions should allow a large number of these levels.

Types of OLAP
The three main types of OLAP servers include:
ROLAP stands for Relational OLAP, an application based on relational DBMS .
MOLAP stands for Multidimensional OLAP, which is a program based on multidimensional DBMS.
HOLAP stands for Hybrid OLAP, a program that uses relational and multidimensional techniques.
OLAP relational server (ROLAP)
This server stands for Relational OLAP, which is an application based on relational DBMS. These servers are known as middle servers and sit between a relational backend server and the user’s frontend tools.
ROLAP uses a DBMS to store and manage warehouse data and an OLAP middleware to provide missing parts. ROLAP technology is more scalable than MOLAP technology. and allows for multi-dimensional data analysis.
benefits
Handling large amounts of data because ROLAP technology’s data size limitation depends on the underlying RDBMS data size. Therefore, ROLAP itself does not limit the amount of data.
Advanced and capable technology in controlling capabilities
Disadvantages
If the original data size is large, the search time how to use telegram in your marketing strategy will increase and the performance will be slow.
This system is limited to SQL and SQL cannot answer all needs.
Multidimensional OLAP (MOLAP) server
The system is base on a native logic model that directly supports multidimensional data and operations. Data is physically stored in multidimensional ca cell numbers arrays and positional techniques are used to access them.
Among the important differences between MOLAP and ROLAP is that data is summarized and store in an optimize format in a multidimensional cube instead of being store in a relational database. In the MOLAP model, data is structure into proprietary formats base on client reporting requirements with pre-generated calculations on cubes.
